Abstract: The present invention applies to the medical field and, in particular, to tumor diagnosis or treatment . Surgical therapy in oncology remains the most effective treatment for the eradication of solid tumors. The success of the therapy depends almost exclusively on the surgeon's ability to resect the tumor margins. This ability is currently not easily standardized and is entrusted to the experience and tact ile/visual sensitivity of the surgeons themselves. The use of highly selective diagnostic compounds would allow the surgeon to visualize the margins of the tumor within healthy tissue during the surgical procedure either directly or through imaging methods .

Abstract: La presente invenzione trova applicazione nel campo medico e, in particolare, per la diagnosi o la terapia tumorale. La terapia chirurgica in oncologia resta il trattamento più efficace per l’eradicazione dei tumori solidi. Il successo della terapia dipende quasi esclusivamente dalla capacità del chirurgo di resecare i margini tumorali. Questa capacità non è al momento facilmente standardizzabile e viene affidata all’esperienza e alla sensibilità tattile/visiva del chirurgo stesso. L’uso di composti diagnostici altamente selettivi permetterebbe al chirurgo di visualizzare direttamente, o attraverso metodiche di imaging, i margini del tumore all’interno di un tessuto sano durante la procedura chirurgica.

Abstract: The object of the invention is a method for the production of a non-human transgenic mammal by means of which it is possible to monitor in vivo and in all the tissues the state of activation of any intracellular receptor, utilizing a reporter gene inducible by natural or synthetic molecules which modulate the activity of such receptor. The mammal is question is preferably a mouse.

Abstract: La presente invenzione ha per oggetto un animale mammifero transgenico non umano nel cui genoma è incorporata, quale biosensore dell’attività di modulatori della proliferazione cellulare, una cassetta del transgene reporter luciferasi, caratterizzato dal fatto che detta cassetta comprende sequenze isolatrici HS4 fiancheggianti detto transgene reporter luciferasi ligato al promotore CYCB2. L’animale transgenico è proposto per lo screening di composti dotati di attività di interesse farmacologico. L’invenzione prevede un ulteriore uso dell’animale per lo studio e la valutazione tossicologica di composti dotati di attività tumorigenica.

Abstract: An apparatus and a related method for the deep brain stimulation have been invented wherein the parameters of the stimulation supplied at the human nervous system level are adjusted and optimized continuously by the analysis of the bioelectric signals coming from the tissue adjacent the stimulation electrode itself, adapting the therapy continuously and in line to the patient's clinical state. The apparatus is constituted at least by an electro-catheter implantable in a patient's brain and equipped with four contacts. Then, there is at least a stimulation module which generates the stimulating signal sent to the electro-catheter and in particular to one of the contacts thereof. The electro-catheter contemporarily sends a signal characterizing the brain activity coming from the tissue involved by the stimulating signal to an acquisition module. The characterizing signal is used to determine the feedback of the stimulation parameters and, consequently, to adapt the therapy continuously to the patient's clinical state.

The transgenic animal is proposed for the screening of compounds with pharmacologically relevant activities. The invention provides for a further use of the animal line for the study and toxicological evaluation of compounds with tumorigenic activity, and also for the study and evaluation of compounds with chemopreventive anti-cancer activity.
